Pharmacy and pharmaceutical histories have meaning for all of us..
Everyone has been in a drug store or pharmacy and everyone recognizes the power of medicines and pharmaceuticals to change lives..
The American Instiutee of the History of Pharmacy collects, preserves, interprets, and shares that past by exploring lesser-known and sometimes overlooked stories from the history of science and medicine, health and the environment.
Founded in 1941, The AIHP is dedicated to uncovering and telling the hidden stories of the people responsible for significant scientific achievements and to illuminating the complexity of pharmacy and pharmaceuticals. As the AIHP looks forward, our research, storytelling, public programming, and educational outreach will continue to reflect these diverse and compelling histories and to challenge perspectives by applying a critical lens to past theories and harmful practices.
Satisfy your curiosity about the history of science by visiting our library; viewing our exhibitions; listening to our lectures and seminars podcasts; reading our magazine and blog; attending our programs; and browsing our digital collections.
